I just purchased my first DSLR camera this summer (Nikon D5000) and have been messing around with time-lapse videos. Final Cut Express and iMovie were obvious options to create the video… but I didn’t want to mess with Final Cut for such a simple task (plus that’s not free). Most of the suggestions I came across on the internet said to use Quicktime Player, but I got a bit confused as the new version of Quicktime Player (Quicktime Player X) included with Snow Leopard (stupidly) doesn’t have the ability to create time lapse videos. However, Quicktime Player 7 (the old version that has the ability to do so), is most likely still installed on your computer. Way to make things confusing, Apple. Anywhooo … here’s the process of creating a time lapse video from stills using Quicktime (free) in Snow Leopard: Read more…

I’m usually not one to post music that I’ve recorded, but I was somewhat pleased with how this “jam session” turned out last night. I usually start with some basic rhythm guitar and build from there. All effects and such were done using Garageband. Yes… I did layer my voice and use some (not T-Pain by any means) voice correction, so for any purists out there, I apologize.

This past weekend (5/16/09), Dashboard Confessional and Augustana (and another band I can’t recall Steeltrain) put on a free concert for all Ohio State students at the LC Pavilion in Columbus. I saw this exact same duo last year at Newport, and once again, they did not disappoint. This wasn’t the best concert I’ve ever seen (Jack Johnson takes the cake on that one – see this set list), but it was pretty awesome nonetheless.
I like to keep track of the set lists of all the concerts I go to, so I can make playlists to relive the musical ecstasy once the concert has gone the way of yesterday. Here’s a link to the iTunes “iMix” playlist I submitted to Apple in case you want to easily pick up any of those missing songs to create your own playlist.
Note: in the iTunes store, the cover songs are NOT available. The songs linked in my iMix are the originals. If anyone can find recordings of any of the covers, please let me know. Thanks!

Just this past weekend, I finally went out and bought one of those Nike+iPod sensors for running. I have an iPod Touch 2G, so it only set me back $20. For those of you who don’t know, this incredible little device allows you to keep track of distances you have run, the amount of time it took you to run that distance, along with some other useful stats all from your iPod. Once your workout is finished, simply connect your iPod to your computer, and iTunes will prompt you to head on over to nikeplus.com. With a simple click, you’re taken to the website, and a nice little graph is displayed for you (you’re prompted to create an account the first time) showing your running statistics (see below). Trust me… 1.67 miles was enough for my first run.
